West Coast Swing ist der Trendpaartanz aus den USA, der seine Ursprünge im Lindy Hop der 1940er Jahre hat. Es ist der einzige Swing-Tanz, der sich mit den Jahren kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt und nichts mehr mit dem klassischen Swing zu tun hat. West Coast Swing ist ein sogenannter Social Dance: hier tanzt jeder mit jedem und dass zu nahezu allen Musikrichtungen. Vier Tanzfiguren bilden dabei die Grundlage, auf der nach und nach aufgebaut wird und den Tanz so vielseitig macht.
Über mich
„Mein Baby gehört zu mir!“, ist wohl einer der berühmtesten Filmzitate aus einem Tanzfilm. Während Baby (Frances) Houseman im Film Dirty Dancing fleißig Mambo lernt, hat der Film mir nicht nur meinen Namen geschenkt, sondern auch meine Leidenschaft zum Tanzen. Kurz vor meinem 16. Geburtstag startete ich mit kubanischer Salsa, es folgten Ausflüge in die Bachata- und Standard-Latein-Tanzwelt. Vor 11 Jahren hatte ich auf einem Salsa Festival in der Türkei das Glück, West Coast Swing kennenzulernen und seitdem ist der Tanz nicht mehr aus meinem Leben wegzudenken.

West Coast Swing
West Coast Swing is the trendy couple dance from the USA, which has its origins in the Lindy Hop of the 1940s. It is the only swing dance that has continuously evolved over the years and no longer has anything to do with classic swing. West Coast Swing is a so-called social dance: here, everyone dances with everyone else to almost any style of music. Four dance figures form the basis on which the dance is gradually built and which makes it so versatile.
About me
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner!", is probably one of the most famous film quotes from a dance film. While Baby (Frances) Houseman diligently learns to mambo in the film Dirty Dancing, the film not only gave me my name, but also my passion for dancing. Shortly before my 16th birthday, I started with Cuban Salsa, followed by excursions into the world of Bachata and Standard Latin dancing. 11 years ago, I was lucky enough to get to know West Coast Swing at a Salsa Festival in Turkey and since then I can't imagine my life without the dance.
